Both use app accounts and support weekly routines
Rest+ 2nd gen uses the Hatch Sleep app; Nanit Sound + Light uses its own Nanit app. Both require an account and Wi-Fi setup, allow remote changes, and support wake and bedtime routines with day-of-week selection and multiple steps.
Nanit specifies 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. Hatch does not state a Wi-Fi band for Rest+ 2nd gen.
Rest+ has the longer qualified runtime and a clock display
Rest+ is rated up to 12 hours at low brightness and volume, with Hatch saying most users see about eight hours. Nanit is rated up to eight hours. Both figures are manufacturer maximums rather than guaranteed runtimes.
Rest+ has a clock display, while Nanit Sound + Light has none. Hatch does not establish that the Rest+ display can be turned off. Both include their power adapters or dedicated charging hardware.
Rest+ has documented offline playback; Nanit does not
Rest+ can continue saved scheduled content through Bluetooth fallback during an internet outage, while routine editing, timers, and certain settings remain unavailable. Some Hatch+ content may not play.
Nanit's current support pages do not establish whether saved routines continue without internet. That uncertainty prevents treating the two models as equivalent when offline schedule playback is required.
Standard routines are included; Nanit predictive cues need more hardware
Rest+'s core wake cue does not require Hatch+; its optional plan expands stories, music, and guided content. Nanit's standard sound and light routines do not require Nanit Insights.
Nanit Predictive OK to Wake is a separate system: it requires a linked Nanit Pro Camera, a compatible mount, and an eligible Insights plan.
The practical split
- Choose Rest+ for a clock display, a higher qualified maximum battery runtime, and documented offline playback of saved schedules.
- Choose Nanit Sound + Light for standard routines in an existing Nanit setup or when the separate camera-linked Predictive OK to Wake system is wanted.
- Do not count Nanit's predictive feature as part of the stand-alone machine; it depends on additional hardware and an eligible plan.
At a glance
Not confirmed means a required-feature filter will not include that model.

| Caregiver app sharing | The original owner can invite up to four additional users by account email. Invitees use their own Hatch Sleep accounts. Device Access settings include removal; simultaneous-control and owner-transfer limits are not established here. | Camera-app sharing is conditional: add the caregiver separately to both device teams. That surface offers on/off, volume, brightness and status, not documented routine editing. Dedicated clock-app sharing remains unconfirmed, so we leave it out when you require clock-app access for another caregiver. |
