Hatch Rest 2nd gen vs Rest+ 2nd gen

Rest 2nd gen and Rest+ 2nd gen share the same basic control pattern: Hatch Sleep app setup, remote control, multi-step wake and bedtime routines, sounds, light, and a clock display. Day-of-week selection is established for Rest+ only. The practical choice is still whether the unit must keep operating away from wall power.

The schedule and app experience is shared

Both models require the Hatch Sleep app, an account, and Wi-Fi for initial setup. Both support wake and bedtime routines, multiple routine steps, a child lock, adjustable light, sounds, and a clock display. Rest+ documents day-of-week selection. Hatch does not establish day selection or a display-off control for Rest 2nd gen, and it does not establish display-off for Rest+ either.

Rest+ operates on battery; Rest does not

Rest+ 2nd gen includes a charging base and can operate on its rechargeable battery. Hatch publishes up to 12 hours under low brightness and volume, while saying most users see about eight hours.

Rest 2nd gen has no internal battery and cannot use the Rest+ charging base. It stops as soon as external power is lost.

Both keep saved routines, with the same editing limits

Hatch documents offline behavior separately for the two generations. On both, saved scheduled content can continue through Bluetooth fallback. Routine creation and editing, timer setup, and changes to child-lock and clock-display settings remain unavailable until internet service returns; some Hatch+ content may not play.

Rest+ adds power continuity, but it does not remove the app and Wi-Fi dependency for setup and editing.

Choose by power requirement

  • Choose Rest 2nd gen when the clock will remain plugged in and the shared Hatch features are the goal.
  • Choose Rest+ 2nd gen when room-to-room use or continued operation during a power cut is required.
  • Neither is a no-app choice; use the no-app guide if local setup is essential.

Not confirmed means a required-feature filter will not include that model.
